Don’t Be Cruel  Issue #32 Issue #32

We sampled dozens of household products that don’t test on animals — and these are the standouts

“We call them dumb animals, and so they are, for they cannot tell us how they feel, but they do not suffer less because they have no words.”
— Anna Sewell, author of Black Beauty

Many of the products that you use in everyday life — from makeup to lube — are tested on animals such as rabbits, mice, monkeys, and dogs. And while many are aware of animal testing for cosmetics, they remain in the dark about testing for products like contact solution, toothpaste, and even condoms.

But as PETA says, ignorance is not bliss. The lives of test animals are dismal. They’re locked in crowded, unkempt cages until they are ultimately “disposed” of when they are of no further use to the testing company. With advancements in science, animal testing is beyond cruel — it’s just plain unnecessary.
