It’s obvious that Kate Jackson knows a thing or two about style, and vintage is her weapon of choice. Before singing became her full-time gig, Jackson worked at Freshmans Boutique, a popular vintage boutique in her hometown of Sheffield, England.
Like the Long Blondes’ sound, a reflection of everything from early punk to ’60s pop, Jackson transcends decades with her wardrobe, a clash of Debbie Harry, rockabilly chic, and 1950s librarians. The key to pulling off Jackson’s look is balance — she doesn’t go crazy with the mixing, but keeps it cool with the matching. Sporting too much vintage from one decade can make you appear as though you just escaped from a bad high school musical.
As for her makeup, Jackson says she uses MAC lipstick, “really cheap No. 17 black eye liner,” and she prefers Laura Mercier foundation and loose face powder because it gives an even skin tone and isn't too heavy for white skin. “I can't live without black patent stiletto heels because they go with all my clothes,” she says. “And I can actually dance in them onstage.”
