Katie Heath loves Radio Lab

I can't imagine a more brain-gratifying way to spend an hour than to listen to Radio Lab. A love-child of National Public Radio, it's an hour-long, nationally syndicated program hosted by Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich and is available for podcasts.

Radio Lab topics cover scientific and philosophical discoveries and are told through stories, interviews, and thought experiments in the backdrop of a quality soundtrack. Answering big questions but eliminating smarty-pants pretensions, Radio Lab makes sense of issues like the origin of sleep, what constitutes morality, love as a chemical, and why people get off going to zoos. Radio Lab is produced by WNYC, a public radio station in New York, and can be downloaded for podcast at wnyc.org/shows/radiolab/ or through Itunes.

Katie Heath is a Venus Zine editorial intern.
