I remember when I first saw Stellastarr* live. It was during their Harmonies For the Haunted tour in 2005, and they were co-headlining with the Editors. It was at the Mezzanine on a sketchy street in San Francisco, where security was more interested in patting down your chest than checking your bag for weapons of concert-going mass destruction.
When Stellastarr* took the stage, they had attitude and style and talent to justify it. Their loud, intense pop punk and energy was contagious, and I don’t think my friends and I stopped moving for the entire set.
Drummer Arthur Kremer joins band mates Shawn Christensen (vocals, guitar), Amanda Tannen (bass), and Michael Jurin (guitar) in San Francisco this week, this time headlining the Noise Pop Music Festival at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall tonight.
