Adam Schragin loves the Winks

The Winks are a Montreal band that serves up uplifting, bubbly, and brightly-accented tunes. What
immediately sets the Winks apart from any other band is their choice of
instrumentation, which includes keys, drums, mandolin, and
cello. Secondly, their performances aren’t stand-still, cross-your-arms affairs. Instead, the Winks throw glitter, ask for
audience sing-alongs, and cellist Tyr Jami often tap dances into the
audience for a performance of “Autumn Leaves.”
They’ve got a smart, fun sound, which you might infer from song titles like “Slumber Party Let’s Go” and “Dark Matter Revealed.” While the Winks don’t often get the chance to tour The States as widely as some of their fans would like, they make quite the impression whenever they do visit.
