Gravy Train!!!!

The ladies and gentleman who make up Gravy Train!!!! pump out raps on their debut album, Hello Doctor, that would make Peaches proud. The San Franciscan self-declared "raging homosexual dance machine" made a name for itself by opening for groups like Bratmobile and has become notorious for its songs about various sex acts (none of which can be mentioned here). ...
While some of the songs on the album, like "Hella Nervous" and "Laffin All the Way to the Bank," brought on some impromptu bedroom dancing, others like "You Made Me Gay" and "Gutter Butter," made me wanna reach for the power switch. Most of the songs have clever dance-y beats, with the exception of the last track, which sounds like a twisted Midwestern aerobics video that doesn't make any sense without the choreographed dance moves that Gravy Train!!!! performs onstage. As a whole, I think that groups like Gravy Train!!!! are much better savored live with their onstage antics and sequined costumes, but this album is good for some stay-at-home booty shakin'.
