Why do you use unexpected images such as late rappers Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, and Easy-E on earrings and clutches?
I felt like it would give me street cred.
Your portraitures of celebrities is reminiscent of Andy Warhol's work.
I'm
pretty much celebrity-obsessed, so anytime I can capitalize on a
celebrity mishap, I do. I love kitsch, so any way I can combine the
two makes me happy.
How do you get these images — such as Paris Hilton's mug shot — on your earrings and other pieces?
The earrings are shrinky dinks, which I really believe is a lost art. Print and shrink — it can't get any easier.
What's next for Lisa's Paperdoll? Celebrity baby photos?
I'm
thinking about doing custom mug shots for people. Send me your pic, I
turn it into a mug shot, and voila! Earrings are made. Everybody needs
their 15 minutes.
