Seams on the shoulders are a good indicator of how well a shirt fits you. You should be able to reach the end of your shoulder at the very top of your arm with these seams. A shirt that extends down your upper arm is too big. A shirt that is too small will not fit over your shoulder if they do not reach the end.
How Do You Know If A Shirt Is Too Long?
A T-shirt should end about two inches past your waistband (or bottom of your belt), and it should end right in front of you. You will look shorter if it goes all the way down to the bottom of your fly.
What Do You Do If Your Shirt Is Too Long?
The first thing you should do is do a front tuck (also known as a partial tuck, French tuck, or half tuck).

You need to make a twist knot in order to get the desired effect.
Make the shirt or dress tighter by using the coin trick to inch or by creating buttons.
The sleeves on a T-shirt should be rolled up if they are too long.
How Long Should Your Shirt Be?
Length. In the middle to upper crotch area, the shirt should end. As a result, I prefer it to be closer to mid-crotch than upper-crotch because this avoids showing stomach when reaching up for things and allows it to be tucked into the front of your belt/pants to break up your proportions.
How Do You Know If A Shirt Fits?
It is recommended that your T-shirt’s sleeves hit the middle of your upper arm at the midpoint.
You should pair your sleeves with a matching shirt if your arms feel lost in the sleeves or the opposite – the end of the sleeves are so tight that they leave marks on your arm.
Can You Reduce Shirt Length?
If you want a better fit, shorten the length of your shirt by a few inches. In order to get the most out of a dress shirt, it should fit properly without being tight or taking on the billowy appearance of a light summer dress. If you want a slim, narrow, or modern fit, ask your tailor to take it in.
