Lockdown Fashion: How the UK Fashion Scene Changed this Year

There has been a lot of changes to how things are done this year. From the way we work to the way we shop, nothing is the same as how it used to be. One of the biggest aspects of our lives that have changed is the fashion that we wear. That is completely understandable as we haven’t exactly had the chance to throw on our best clothes and hit the streets. Instead, we have been subjected to what has been called ‘Lockdown Fashion’, which is a lot different from the clothes that we used to know and love. Here is what lockdown fashion is and how we have chosen comfort over style in lockdown.

Sweats

A lot of people think that jeans will be completely obsolete after lockdown comes to an end. That is because we have all ditched our skinny jeans in favor of leggings and joggers. We are spending most of our time these days in bed or on the sofa admiring the four walls in our house. So when we are lying in bed looking for more unneeded house decor at internaldoorsuk, we don’t want to be wearing jeans. How can we ever return to discomfort after this? We can’t. Not only because we don’t want to, but because our lockdown weight gain won’t allow it.

Fluffy Socks

Another item of clothing that we have all added to our wardrobe is a vast collection of fluffy socks. Again, if we have nowhere to go, why would we choose to put on thin ankle socks when we can stay in fluffy bed socks that keep our feet nice and warm. Again, comfort has been the main priority during the lockdown, quite literally from our heads down to our feet.

Masks

Though we have been asked to stay at home for the majority of our time, there are still times where we have had to venture out into the apocalyptic wasteland. When we head out, we have also been asked to wear masks. What started off as everyone wearing blue throw away masks has evolved into what can be considered a fashion statement. Masks now have all sorts of patterns on them. People have also figured out how to make their own, so they really are reflections of everyone’s personalities.

Hoodies

Though hoodies have always been a big part of everyday fashion, they really have made a comeback. If you look at the main page of any online fashion retailer, the first thing that you are bound to see is a set of comfortable hoodies. This has something to do with the weather, but also because people aren’t leaving their homes and so have no reason to get dressed up. Plus, what is more, comfortable than a hoodie? Nothing, nothing is more comfortable than a hoodie. You may have noticed the increase in the popularity of a brand called Oodies. These are literally giant hoodies/blankets that are perfect for lounging about the house in. You are bound to know someone who owns one and it is no surprise why.

Fewer jackets

Something that happened due to lockdown that left us all in a state of shock once winter rolled around was the lack of people wearing jackets. This was because we weren’t going out every day and so didn’t really pay attention to the cold. Online fashion also fell out of the loop with seasonal clothing, so it became a lot harder to find weather-appropriate clothing. This meant that the high street was flooded with people in search of thick coats and gloves.
